Second, I agree. I’ve never heard about his until I was visiting family in Brazil last December and my father-in-law’s favorite team Vasco de Gama, was in danger of being bumped to D2 for the first time ever. (They eventually did get bumped). Now they have to battle back to D1, while their old rivals are laughing at them. It adds more drama to the season, and made me interested in watching the last game even though I don’t follow Brazilian soccer at all.

It’s like the second act in a hero movie. You know, where the good guy falls down really low and everybody spits on him. The hero realizes he needs to get back to basics through a training montage with You’re The Best By Joe Esposito playing in the background.

Plus a little more drama in the MLS soccer season would give sportscasters more stories and the sport more coverage.
