Great cartoon! Nice! It says so much without using one word.

I laughed a lot at this one. Great job!

Man, in addition to pissing off conservatives and liberals, pro-choicers and pro-lifers, Julie Schmidt-Albin AND Bernie Sanders all at once…Ben Nelson has managed to ruin the perfection of this cartoon.
Well, I love it anyway. So simple. So funny. So (almost) true.

For those of you at home, I pitched this cartoon last Thursday. By the time it ran on Sunday, Ben Nelson agreed to be the 60th vote to end debate in the Senate. So at first, I was thinking that reality ruined this cartoon, but I think the meaning just changed. Whereas it initially symbolized what I saw as bad-faith negotiations, I feel like this cartoon now represents the delicate balance and uncertainty of what remains.

    theotherneill replied:

Actually, that’s what I thought when you posted this cartoon. Lucy always got Charlie Brown to try to kcik the football by promising to hold it THIS TIME! And if you were suckered (as I was) that Lucy would keep her promise, you were so excited to see Charlie Brown get to kick the ball, ultimately having your hopes dashed as it was taken away once again. While I’m not in favor of this bill, I do think you hit the right sentiment for what Sen. Nelson may do to our president.

Reminds me of Garrett Hartley’s kick against the Vikings to send the Saints to the Super Bowl… well except a little less pressure. Great pic.
