from the Omaha Reader
1/15 UPDATE: I learned last night that The Reader decided not to run this cartoon.

omaha world herald gay couple wedding marriage announcement george michael benjamin britten

from The Reader‘s coverage: (story not online) now posted

“As a business decision, the Omaha World-Herald does not print same-sex marriage announcements,” company spokesperson Joel Long told The Reader. He said the company’s decision is not based on Nebraska’s law banning gay marriage or a specific corporate policy. “We decided we’re not going to do it.”

This is great. Why did they pull it?

    mark baldridge replied:

    …because they’re in Omaha?

  2. nolan says:

a rejected comic about a rejected story? i smell a charlie kaufman comic next.

  3. Mark says:

I’m 1/2 of the gay couple rejected by the OWH, they claimed it would “offend” subscribers and advertisers. How about becoming the progressive city they say we need to become??? I may be a lot of things, lol, but I’ve never been called “offensive”.

  4. Yep, bigotry on display at the Omaha World Herald. This has not gone unnoticed by the gay community and will not be forgotten!

  5. j says:

the omaha world herald is a joke.

when you got columnists who work for pro-illegal alien front groups

several columnists who do stories on local high schools

and than refuse to mention they work for or run certain schools alumni assocations

and other columnists who need to be sacked for their conflict of interest reporting

no wonder the owh is going down the drain

    neal replied:

    j,

Would you mind elaborating on or backing up those claims?

  6. Erika says:

Since when did bigotry become a “business decision”?
Oh yeah. Since the beginning of time.
