The University Program Council decided to end negotiations with Michael Moore, citing scheduling conflicts as the reason. As it turns out, UPC has only two events scheduled for the entire month of October - a night to break an as-of-yet-undetermined Guiness world record, and Twister night on East Campus.

San Diego’s poverty rate - Aug 30, 2004

San Diego has been once again found to have a higher-than-average poverty rate. While there are a ton of low-wage jobs that don’t match the high cost of living, there are also 8 casinos in the area, and no one says a thing about them.

Keep the Money in Nebraska - August 23, 2004

The pro-gambling lobbying group, which is backed by interests in Las Vegas to set up casinos and other gambling in Nebraska where a good chunk of the money would go back to Las Vegas, calls themselves “Keep the Money in Nebraska.”

Michael Moore comes to campus? - August 16, 2004

filmmaker Michael Moore was scheduled to come speak at UNL, and all kinds of controversy erupted when the news broke that UPC was going to bring a liberal speaker three weeks before the election with nothing conservative to balance him.

Terrorists strike the Fieldhouse - Aug 2, 2004

This is what will end up being the forgotten final cartoon from the Daily Nebraskan after having my cartoons picked up by the Journal-Star. It’s a pretty unceremonious ending, but I’d already done farewell/retirement cartoons twice by that point.
