“Uncle Sam” by Bob Al-Greene

by Bob Al-Greene

AL-GREENE: “This was the first of my pieces to run in the Daily Nebraskan. It was a close one – I couldn’t for the life of me think of an idea which was suited for a cartoon. I was sitting at my desk thinking about the week, and Blackwater just kind of hit me. It’s a simple statement I’m making here, but I think the imagery adds to any effect it has. I also really liked the idea of a disheveled Uncle Sam, which is an idea I actually got from a comic painted by the fantastic Alex Ross.”
