The life of a future Omaha Reader cartoon

Here is the original sketch presented to my editor:

5:36 pm – Here is the new pencil sketch that will eventually be the finished cartoon:

5:47 pm – With a Faber-Castell brush pen, I lay out where the heaviest black areas will be.

6:15 pm – I use Prismacolor markers to fill in the big black areas and then a Pilot G2 to do the detail work and lettering. At this point, I’ll erase the pencils and possibly use Prismacolor gray markers to do a gray wash. I like how this looks black and white, though, so I might just leave it here.

The finished version will be up tomorrow.
